    I purchased and used the Sigma 18-35 from 10 years ago (absolutely an amazing lens, my favorite to this day). Unfortunately, my back pain convinced me to also purchase the 12-35, which is much more practical and lighter (the weight, in the long run, is something not to be underestimated). Now the 12-35 has become my main lens and I use the 18-35 only when I need something more "cinematic". In my opinion, if possible, the best choice is to have both.

    The dynamic range seems quite noticeable, BMCC wins there easily. Actually found the Sony's footage sharper, but then again I am looking at this through UA-cam's compression lens. Wish BMCC had better autofocus and low light performance for real world scenarios and independent video makers.

    Got a gh5s as a C cam and was super disappointed how far below its Dynamic range was compared to my S1 and S5. Color wise was great as I feel I could match any camera now a days. Had to return it back as there is no way to recover details and these peak highlights fast.

    • @Abba555
      @Abba555 4 дні тому

      @@NatesFilmTutorials Yes, both cameras are incredible but the gh5s is definitely better for video and although it can take photos it is not recommended to use it for that, the gh5s is incredible with its double native ISO and it also has a low pass filter that the gh5 does not have and it is something that It makes the image look much better, the gh5s sensor is also larger than the gh5 and the lack of ibis is irrelevant because it is always better to use a professional stabilizer, dolly, etc

    • @MyFriendlyPup
      @MyFriendlyPup 4 дні тому

      The GH5s had dual ISO. The GH5 didn't. However... the GH5II has better IBIS than GH5 and same dual ISO as GH5s. So the GH5s is dead. Just get a GH5II

    • @MyFriendlyPup
      @MyFriendlyPup 4 дні тому

      No, the sensor in the Panasonic GH5S is not bigger than the one in the Panasonic GH5. Both cameras feature a Four Thirds (MFT) sensor. However, there are differences in the sensors' design and performance: - **GH5S**: The GH5S has a 10.2-megapixel sensor optimized for low-light performance and video recording. This sensor uses a multi-aspect design, allowing it to offer different aspect ratios without significant cropping, and it excels in low-light conditions with improved dynamic range. - **GH5**: The GH5 has a 20.3-megapixel sensor, which provides higher resolution still images. This sensor is more geared towards photographers who need higher detail in their images. Both sensors have the same physical size typical of the Micro Four Thirds system, but the GH5S's sensor is specifically tuned for video and low-light performance, while the GH5's sensor is more versatile for both stills and video with a higher resolution.

    I always prefer the colors on Blackmagic cameras, especially compared to Sony's. The big price drop made grabbing one a no brainer. Although you can eventually fiddle with settings, I just plain love the Blackmagic color right from the camera. All it takes is one of the base LUTs like Extended Video and you're good to go. Besides the color there's a softness that's a bit more subtle. It's sharp, but at the same time, soft using the default settings. Lastly, there is simply no better menu system than Blackmagic's. My only complaint is that you can't point the screen at yourself for self-shooting.
